1829 Cornerstone Award Presented to
Mr. & Mrs. Peter H. Plamondon, Sr.
A reception to honor the Faith in the Future Capital Campaign's leading contributors was held on Saturday, April 19 in the school's media center. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 1829 Cornerstone Award which was presented to Pete and Lorrie Plamondon. The award was created by the Campaign's executive committee with the purpose of recognizing a family or individual within the Frederick community that has a history of generosity and a record of civic and charitable responsibility.
As ardent supporters of Catholic education, Pete and Lorrie Plamondon’s childhood years in Catholic elementary education provided a foundation for their successes in life both professionally and as parents to their children. Mr. Plamondon’s successful career with the Marriott Corporation and as founder of the Plamondon Companies went hand in hand with his involvement in civic and religious organizations. He has been a past recipient of the President’s Medal from Mt. St. Mary’s University, A Frederick Distinguished Citizen awarded by the Boy Scouts of America, elected Businessman of the year in 1987 by the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, has served as past board member of Marymount University, Georgetown Prep and Frederick Memorial Hospital. He is currently serving as honorary chair for the Saint John Catholic Prep Capital Campaign, is a member of the Knights of Malta and most recently established the fund for Catholic Education with the Community Foundation of Frederick County.
Pete and Lorrie’s financial support for St. John’s Faith in the Future Capital Campaign has served to help us continue the tradition of Catholic education in Frederick County. In Mr. Plamondon’s words “education is life long and can indeed change the world.” His words indeed inspire us all. |
