The vision for our SJRCS Garden/Outdoor Classroom is simple--to create an outdoor learning place-- a serene environment where students and adults alike can gather for times of learning, celebration or quiet reflection. In careful consideration of the elements the garden will contain, we have chosen features that will support this vision, including a water element, classroom seating, inlaid cross, and a gazebo covered patio.
SJRCS holds a long tradition of community. As over 185 years old, the school itself has become a benchmark of Frederick and an established presence in our community. As we opened our new school seven years ago, several people expressed the interest in constructing a garden and outdoor classroom, but the project, albeit important, was considered a future promise. Now, we would like to bring that promise to fulfillment. In keeping with our tradition of strong community, this garden and outdoor classroom will be funded entirely by contributions from our community--individuals and families who care for our school and who are dedicated to supporting catholic education.
Our plans to raise funds include a brick campaign, community donations, as well as seeking donations for specific items. Phase one of the Garden/Outdoor Classroom has been completed. The H.S.A. donated the Mary Statue. We are now collecting donations for named gifts such as the, benches, bricks, water element, gazebo, and trees are available.
Please contact Sheila Evers at 301-662-6722 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. We would love to present the project before your next meeting to answer any questions that you may have.
