Developing the Leader: Empowering Youth- YOUth LEADership Summer camp July 10th-13th- 9am-12pm
Could your rising 6th, 7th or 8th grader benefit from building resiliency skills, positive identity and self-esteem? This summer camp led by Mr. Knotek and Mrs. Stevensonwill guide middle school students through a comprehensive positive youth empowerment program.
Youth are empowered when they feel they have choices in life, are aware of the implications of their choices and when they become accountable for consequences of their choices. Students will participate in group activities, brainstorming sessions, role-playing, reflection and other activities intended to guide students to become effective leaders.
This camp is directed by Yemi, a famous, local artist. The students will produce art work like they never have before. They will produce multimedia work, take the work home, and learn many art tips along the way. The class begins with a "test" of each student's ability so that the class can be individually tailored to their speed and ability. Then, we will start with increasingly complex art tasks. We will spend the majority of the class in this mode of doing task after task until students have produced some wonderful art pieces.
